Book: The McKinsey Way by Ethan M. Rasiel

without comments

Good insights on how team works at McKinsey. But I have hoped for more details on their strategy.

One good thing I learned from this book is on MECE -
The MECE principle, pronounced ‘me see’, mutually exclusive and collectively exhaustive, is a grouping principle for separating a set of items into subsets, the choice of subsets should be mutually exclusive and collectively exhaustive.

My rating: 6.5/10

Book – The Dip

without comments

This short book by Seth Godin talks about the dip in one’s progress in work, company, personal life or almost any where. He highlights on things when we are giving up on our efforts too soon and sometime when we keep on pushing when we should quit and move into more important things. Bottom line – It discards the old saying – Winners don’t quit and quitter don’t win. In Godin’s world – Winners do quit and quitters do win.

The gist of the book is summarized by the author as:

All our successes are the same. All our failures, too.
We succeed when we do something remarkable.
We fail when we give up too soon.
We succeed when we are the best in the world at what we do.
We fail when we get distracted by tasks we don’t have the guts to quit.

Book – Tipping Point

without comments

Overall a good read. But nothing as exciting on Galdwell’s standards. Few conclusive lines from the book.

In the end – tipping point is the reaffirmation of the potential for change and power of intelligent action. Look at the world around you. It may look like an immovable implacable place. It is not. With the slightest push in just the right place, it can be tipped.
